Create ELDEN RING in Unity ► EP. 17 TAKING DAMAGE (Pt. 1)
In this video we create a new instant character effect, the "Take Damage" effect. This effect in it's final form will process everything from damage calculations, friendly fire checks, damage animations, build up status, sound effects and video effects.
We then create the "Damage Collider", a base class for all colliders that cause damage effects to be processed upon collision. We end the video by learning how to only search for collisions on specific layers, (The example given in the video is making it so that the "Damage Collider" layer, only collides with the "Character" layer) and finally we process a damage effect upon contacting a damage collider.
