This area is full of Darkwraiths and ghosts. To fight the ghosts, you'll need Transient Curses, otherwise your attacks will go right through them and they'll still hurt you. You can buy Transient Curses from the Undead Merchant Female in the shortcut from Firelink to the Lower Undead Burg. Ghosts can also drop them, so make sure your Item Discovery is decent.
Darkwraiths are fairly easy to backstab, just try to bait their one handed stab attack. You can farm Titanite Chunks and if you're really lucky, they'll drop a Titanite Slab. That happened to me on this playtrhrough when I was in the first game cycle.
The Four Kings - this is a DPS race. Partly it's RNG, because if the Kings decide to keep using their AoE and grab attack, you'll have to keep dodging away, giving the next King time to spawn. My strategy here relies on the Sunlight Blade buff so I can kill them quickly. Stay close when they're swinging their swords, because the closer you are, the less damage you'll take. That's why using heavy armor and tanking hits is a popular strategy in the lower cycles, but doesn't work so well in higher game cycles, so you'll need to get good at dodging. The Chloranthy Ring and Green Blossoms are very helpful in this fight, as is the Crest Shield.
