Deadly Perfumes and Rampaging Revenants - Elden Ring pt.32 (2022-02-28)
Having another look around the early Altus Plateau areas and I came across the Perfumer's Ruins, immediately getting demolished by one of its Omenkiller Denizens (and according to their armor's lore - also a Perfumer). The reward for surviving long enough to scrounge the area is some recipes and a Perfume Bottle, which seems to be another type of crafting container similar to Cracked Pots. Perfumes come in two primary forms - some sort of area attack/debuff (similar to mists and some AoE damage spells), and buffs which affect the player and nearby allies. Not only is this adding a whole lot more intrigue to having a crafting-heavy build, but it also breathes some extra lift into support archetypes.
Back in Liurnia I happen upon the Kingsrealm Ruins, where a Royal Revenant awaits to try to ruin my day. These enemies are absurdly aggressive and overall one of the toughest encounters the game has to offer, but during this fight I discover that Torrent can be ridden in this enclosed, underground space, and that makes the fight a much simpler affair. Afterwards I discover the Frozen Needle, which looks to be Elden Ring's successor to Dark Souls 2's Ice Rapier. While I don't intend to use it for this character, I could see it coming in handy whenever I decide to recreate Jarvis.
