Weeping Peninsula and Castle Morne - Elden Ring pt.36 (2022-03-01)
In chasing my newfound knowledge of Rises (wizard towers) being a source of Memory Stones, I found myself browsing back around Limgrave to see if there's a Rise I missed there.
I ended up heading south into the Weeping Peninsula - an area I forgot about, but had absentmindedly dipped into in the few hours of play time I had before the game's release. There I encounter Irina, a woman who fled from Castle Morne. She's waiting on her father, who stayed at the castle as its Commander.
Overall, the Weeping Peninsula should probably have been the second major area I had gone to after Limgrave (and prior to Stormveil). In having explored further out, I'm clearly over-leveled, and most of the area is a cruise. Lucky for me, as Morne Tunnel is another source of much-needed Smithing Stones.
In the castle itself, my raid to reach the Commander is more of a careful saunter, and it's not too much trouble to deliver Irina's letter. Unfortunately the Commander isn't ready to leave, so I need to head further in to find a treasured sword of Castle Mourne (not the Mourneblade!) which the Commander is sworn to protect.
