Found myself back in Caelid to pick up a couple of super useful early game items - the Meteorite Staff which has especially high spell buff at low level (and doesn't need to be upgraded), and the Rock Sling spell which affords me some much-needed physical damage for that eventual return to Rennala.

Also took some time to kill the Death Rite Bird nearby. It drops Death's Poker, a mostly-quality-scaling Greatsword which applies a bit of frost. So far all of these weapons are a good bit out of my league, but it's certainly looking like I should get stats for at least _some_ reasonable melee weapon in case I run out of FP.

I arrive in Redmane Castle in the middle of the night, and it seems there's a festival going on - apparently the one Alexander was looking for. As for Blaidd, I don't quite know why he's there, but I'm sure he has his reasons. Regardless of why we're here, the main event seems to be a battle against Radahn himself - a contest for his Great Rune.
