Demonicon playthrough on hard Part 02 Fighting the Cartel
2For all the information and all the 'whys', please read the description of Part 1 of this playthrough. This is another section of the game on the highest difficulty (initially available since there is yet a higher difficulty level you unlock after you beat the game).
In this part: After the events at the beginning of the game, we end up in the market district of the city. Here, two opposing factions (the Cartel and the City Guard) try to gain superiority. Cairon decides that this is the perfect opportunity to get a citizenship for him and his family and stop his sister's forced wedding because... they love each other, right?:P So, Cairon gets involved in a brothel problem - the City Guard wants to take over the brothel and end its shady business that involves necromancers and necrophilia. The most disturbing thing is that people in the city seem to love the idea of undead prostitutes, because the brothel prospers pretty well. In the whole fight between the factions, I decided to side with the city guard because they seem to be the good guys. At least, they seem to be the "gooder" guys. The tenstion between the factions becomes really high. However, Cairon needs to do more jobs for the city guard in order to get the citizenship. I must escort a mage through the Kreutz Alley, defend the warehouse of the city guard. Once all of that is done, the city is attacked by the undead, so Cairon and his family must fight their way to the summoners and kill them. With all the clues you gather on your way, it becomes more and more obvious that someone powerful in the city is scheming against its rulers. Everyone meets at the gates of a temple where the last summoner is supposed to summon a demon to attack the city and the first larger boss battle takes place, after which the boss escapes. Then, we get back to the subject of the wedding with Falk, Calandra trying to convince the father that they don't need Falk anymore, Calandra and Cairon's love (again). The conversation is interrupted by Falk's mother, who casts a mind-control spell on Calandra and they both walk away to make preparations for the wedding. Afterwards, Cairon decides to go after Calandra and Falk's mother.
