DFFOO [JP][Short] What happens if you add Laguna's Desperado to Noel FR + Dorgann + Ace?
Since I just discovered that Laguna's desperado + Noel FR = leaving enemies unbroken, I have a funny feeling that it can lead to something fun and exploitative.
Key moments:
00:00 Setups and waiting for Ace to return
02:34 Key moment 1 - Noel
04:15 Key moment 2 - Ace
Quick recap:
Noel FR makes everyone a rebreaker. If the target is unbroken, the immediate break would not be counted as a "rebreak", thus not consuming its effect until the next break within the same turn.
Some Noel + Dorgann + Ace (individual targeting trap user) can lead to additional rebreak procs post-active turn, due to Ace's trap activating.
Now, if you add Laguna's Desperado to the mix, after the main attack or a trap attack, the desperado explosion will take place. Once the explosion takes place, the target becomes unbroken again (BRV at 0).
Since Ace's trap is an individually targeting one, both targets will be:
(1) broken or re"broken" depending on the target's original state
(2) left unbroken again due to activating 2 individual desperado explosion
If you happen to have additional Dorgann procs, he will be triggered again and AOE break the unbroken target again, thus netting you up to additionally 2 procs.
Unlike Ace or any other trappers, Laguna's desperado is a reactive attack to incoming hits, so he does not need to be in the party for it work. Conversely, Ace needs to be there, or else the trap would not cause a rebreak.
Since this involves a friend unit, you cannot use this for a "ticket run". This is a way of combining effects from these types of units for exploitations that you may use in other situations.
Honestly, I am not too sure about the position for this one, because the explosion timing is a bit funky. For example, had I put Dorgann at position 2 instead of Ace for moment 1, maybe there would have been even more procs due to natural breaks, if the explosions also happen in between Ace and Dorgann at the end.
Just a fun little experiment to satisfy my itch of making it work.
Also thanks to a random stranger having Laguna as a friend unit lol. It was totally by chance as well, being the last one on the list.
