DFFOO [JP] Noel FR shenanigans w/ Dorgann +1 Trap operator - everyone is a rebreaker
The most effort actually went to (a) finding a suitable stage, and (b) finding a 5T FG charger friend to ease the pain of accelerated FG charges.
I originally picked Spiritus Ifrit, but there was just too much DPS triggering the instant death move left and right, so I picked another stage with 3 targets. Sorry, Shantotto has been abused once again. Itai indeed.
I avoided using summons, because 3 targets with Dorgann proccing just takes too much time and bluestacks would slow to a snail. I already changed or avoided certain setups to cut down the runtime. I actually think the pre-FR phase has more thought to it, but in case you want to skip, here are the timers:
00:00 Delaying Shantotto
06:40 Noel FT
Rationale:
Noel's FR has an effect that makes everyone unbreak the target before they land their attacks. Therefore, even characters or moves that do not have the innate ability to rebreak things would be able to break the target again, essentially making everyone a rebreaker.
This effects extends to off-turn attacks that have a target. So using trap against 3 targets would have the most benefit to partner with Dorgann. The most prominent ones are Ace, Sice and Minwu, with Minwu having the most amount of procs, as each of their off-turn attacks are counted separately. (Another multi-trapper would be Trey, but he is quite dated at this point)
I used Sice here because:
(a) haven't used her for some time
(b) she is a melee character, which grants full bonus with Noel FR
(c) easier to see the individual procs triggering breaks
(d) great turn manipulation affinity with Noel/Dorgann's break delays
D is very important for this stage, because Shantotto one shot your entire party if she gets a turn after FT or below 70%. Her manikins also hit ridiculously hard.
The Lunafreya buffs + multiple break delays from Noel FR/Dorgann FR+BT were used to delay one particular target, such that Sice can push the boss so far away with her EX that Shantotto's turns would never be seen ever again.
The real Shantotto has break delay immunity, so this is a nice combo work around. This stage is a good one to show that.
There are a few things that are noteworthy:
(1) Do not replace your trap user
The trap user has to be in the party to enjoy the FR effect. Behaviour such as putting the traps on and swap the trapper with a friend, or using CAs to put on traps would avail you not with rebreaks.
(2) Relationship with on-turn / off-turn
A. It triggers once per on-turn
If you have something like Cor preemptive strike, the rebreak would be initiated by whatever first hits the target. In this example, that would be Cor's preemptive strike. Whoever the main attacker is, the main attack would not trigger the rebreak.
B. Immediate (or on-turn) follow-ups do not cause additional rebreaks
Something like Noel's personal follow-up count as an on-turn attack, so it does not trigger another break.
Basically if you understand what triggers Dorgann's image slash+ and what doesn't, they are the same group that benefits from this effect.
Therefore by extension,
C. Off-turn attacks can trigger rebreaks
Things like Leo follow-up on other people's turns, Cor's reactive off-turn attack to enemy targeting party members, traps getting triggered off-turn would all benefit from this.
(3) Character position matters if you partner with Dorgann
This is a call back to that video I did regarding character position and the priority of off-turn triggers. The rule of thumb is effects trigger from right to left (i.e. position 1 to 3).
I particularly placed Dorgann on the right because of Noel/Dorgann's FA would AOE unbreak targets afterwards. (For example, if you target B (real Shantotto), manikin A/C would be left unbroken after the FA is finished).
If you put Sice on the right side, her tornados would break all target once due to Noel's FR effect, rewarding you with 1+3 = 4 Dorgann procs.
If you put Dorgann on the right, he will first trigger his off-turn, breaking the unbroken target first. Then Sice's tornado would break the targets broken by Dorgann again, netting you 1+1+3 = 5 procs.
This execution is also used for any ST attacks. Since Dorgann BT unbreak the main target, if the next character use a ST attack on someone else that is already broken, Noel FR effect would kick in and break the target. Dorgann's proc would break the unbroken target from the first turn, netting you one extra proc.
An illustration:
1st turn: A (broken) B (unbroken) C (broken)
2nd turn: (ST on A) A (Noel FR rebreak) B (unbroken) C (broken)
Dorgann proc A (broken) B (break) C (broken)
Then an additional Dorgann proc, 3 tornados + 3 breaks and 3 more Dorgann procs.
