DFFOO [JP][Spring Campaign MQ part 2/3] 3 throw weapon users against a boss that cannot be debuffed?
Well, it is kind of a troll setting, so ... I used a friend lol.
Technically I have Yuffie BT+0/FR to deal with the buffs, but I didn't want to lol. It is easier to just not let them go into later FG stages and get rid of them earlier.
Pity though, I was expected this to be a gun user stage, since this was the Baltheir FR debut. I was going to use Vincent here, not for his FR (because it does not work) but his BT. It just blocks all buffs as an aura.
Spring Campaign Mission Quest
Chaos | No idea what this stage was | 3 Greatswords
Lufenia | Beatrix LC | 3 Staffs
Shinryu | Balthier FR Raid | 3 Throw Weapons
Boss buffs through two ways: attacks and FG phases. They also put up barrier buffs through HP thresholds.
Either try to FT before 60/80% FG or FA cancels them. The buffs plus the BRV/HP dmg reduction makes almost every bit of your dmg not worthwhile even with BT effects. Obviously if you use Setzer, then you can get by just fine. Just beware that no matter your investment on Setzer, the rainbows are still chanced.
Much like Beatrix IW, the shields they make as their HP drops significantly reduces your dmg if they are both in effect, thus wasting your FTs. It is best to trigger one after another and deal with them one at a time.
There are not a lot of throw weapon users and among those even less with FR. Most of them that have it give severely handicapped FR bonus with a boss that has god tier immunity. Pretty much you would have to resort to Hope/Setzer FR, or a friend. Ace's FR can somewhat do decently (around 40+%), but there will be no traps and you have to use magic users with him.
I did make a mistake of spending one more Ace BT turn than I should have. Somehow I forgot having 6T remaining would still trigger the very hard hitting BT effect expiring attack. I thought it was 5. So the boss ended up having 1% left there.
Now that I have seen 3 throw weapons against a totally immune boss, I just hope it is not 3 whips against part 3's final boss lol.
P.S. Thought about using Shadow/Cissnei, but Cissnei is kind of boring and Shadow can't lock targets without debuffs. Otherwise it would have been kind of fun, since the boss has consecutive turn mechanics too if you let it move.
