Doom's horror element still holds true even today with its satanic content that was extremely controversial in 1993 and its gore which was also highly debated, Its cartoonish nowadays since realistic games are always pushing the envelope but regardless, Doom is, and always will be a master class in Horror FPS games.
Authored by Lexus Alyus (Daman Lee) who would appear in the credits of Titan 2, and other files, Realm of the Green Soul was released on September 23rd 2002, Containing a story telling us finding ourself in a unknown location.. unaware of the horror that awaits. A Green soul which is a custom monster that rams into us and fires Hell knight plasma is the boss of this wad as we try to escape its realm.
What hits first is Damian's custom midi that was composed for Realm of the Green Soul: "Distorted Insanity" and its just as nerve wracking as other custom midis I've heard in a horror wad. Our trip through this realm is with danger and peril, and feels just as scary as it is anti-climatic. The Green soul boss battle was the worst thing I've experienced so far.. I had no cover against the thing and it did lower my appreciation of this wad, but Lexus I think did well for their first effort.
