The boss will only move if he is in range to attack someone, and the only way to do this on turn 1 is to have a promoted Fiora/Florina dropping someone with Ninian’s help. However he is also hard to kill with his stats (46 HP/8 Spd/13 Def/8 Res) so finishing him on turn 2 requires a crit. My available weapons to do so with some reliability are the Killing Edge, the Killer Bow and the Luna tome.

Canas also got his promotion (as well as Raven, who isn't deployed here), which greatly improves his survivability (+4 HP, +3 Spd, +2 Def, +2 Res), and it allows him to reach the boss on turn 2 with Ninian’s help. With this, he can reach the boss on turn 2 and even take a hit from him.

On these two turns, there are a lot of houses to visit for rare items. Eliwood and Fiora easily got the Restore staff and the Elysian Whip, however it is a bit tricky for the Pure Waters shop. A mounted unit must be used to reach it, but my poor cavaliers have issues to take hits at this point. By rescue dropping Canas next to him, Kent can’t die as he only has to face 3 attacks.

I purchased 7 Pure Water, but I should have got 1 or 2 more of them, because I will end up really short of them (the only other time I can buy Pure Waters is chapter 31x). Florina can get either the Light Rune or the Wirmslayer, and I chose the Wirmslayer. It will come in handy in a late game chapter, and I can’t see any place where the Light Rune would have been more useful (although the 2 other Light Runes I will get in future chapters will have important uses).

There are only 2 things that can go wrong with this strategy. First I must crit the boss with the Luna tome. Second, Ninian must live, either by dodging the Poison Lance!Wyvern Rider (44% Display/39% True) or surviving the poison damage (she is left with 2 HP, and I assume the poison can only deal 1 or 2 damage to a 14 HP unit).

Overall CoS : ~11%
