When you challenge Griffin, you should reset until you manage to get a counterattack from Grffin's missed Tail attack. This will save about 15 seconds.

Now for the Auction, I only need the Magician Robe, Madain's Ring, and the Reflect Ring. However the odds of getting all 3 to appear in ONE auction and at bargain prices is less likely than getting struck by lightning on a sunny day, so the first auction is to buy all of the key items (which you can sell to the nobles for some profit) and the Reflect Ring, then come back and get the Magician Robe and Madain's Ring with lightning speed!

There is a trick to getting the last laugh on the desired items, if the auctioneer asks "any more?" The item is about to be sold so wait one second and place a bid of 100 gil higher to steal the item without any interference from the nobles! (that one was dumb luck)

Zjankku has demonstrated this on his emulated run and I can confirm it works for console users.

If you did not get the Coral Ring from the FOTH, you need to synthesize an extra one here, hence the Lightning Staff from Black Waltz 3 and the extra Rod purchase. I also sell the key items to the nobles for some profit, for the Griffin's Heart and Une's Mirror, DO NOT ACCEPT the first offer, and you only get 10000 gil for the Doga's Artifact.
