Frankenstein : The Monster Returns (Nes) Playthrough / Even monsters fear him...with a good reason!!
Frankenstein : The Monster Returns (1991) developed by Tose is probably the best answer to the legendary Castlevania on the system. There aren't too many games with a similar theme on the Nes, so this is undeniably a treat for fans of classic monsters. The game by its premise is very similar to Castlevania . It is a classic side scroller , which at times can be as complex as Simon's Quest on Nes. Despite the fact that the game is linear, from time to time we have the opportunity to go off the main path to strengthen ourselves by collecting hidden powerups. The bestiary used in the game is really impressive. You can meet here practically every monster from Castlevania, but also many others. We have a couple of weapons at our disposal, depending on the level we are in, but they don't differ much except for the damage they inflict. Also you can get two different upgrades that allow you to throw projectiles at your opponents, but you have to be careful with them because they don't show up that much in the game and after receiving damage, unfortunately, but the upgrade stops working .... so one injury and we lose the ability to shoot . Something like in Zelda. Graphically the game looks decent but without fireworks and exactly the same can be said about the music. Everything is just decent. The plot is conducted in an exemplary manner with cool cutscenes, which Castlevania could never offer. The story may not be top-notch, but at the time it was rather normal and we should be glad that there is a story at all. So here the game deserves a big plus. At first the game may seem very difficult and stiff, but you play it very well after a while. Definitely a good title for both collectors and casual players. It is just a pity that it is so little known.
