Omega Boost (Psx) Playthrough/A time machine in the form of a giant robot shooting plasma. I'm in :D
Omega Boost (1999) developed by Polyphon Digital and Cyberhead is one of the most dynamic and altogether challenging games that the first Playstation saw. We must admit that the game is really smooth, and even sometimes, despite the presence of a large number of effects, enemies, explosions, at the same time the game maintains its fluidity of animation. This is probably the smoothest 30 fps frame rate on the system..... where many people mistake it for 60 fps. Including me :P The game can be compared to titles such as Star Fox or Panzer Dragoon. You can say that it is a kind of rail shooter, where we have some freedom of movement, but based only on dodging and adjusting the distance between us and the enemies. There is no exploration, and all missions are based on elimination of more and more challenging opponents. You can meet huge bosses as well as small and very agile ones. The game is certainly quite a challenge despite the short gameplay time. But believe me you will, repeat some of the levels a lot of times. After all, the developers from Polyphon Digital know well how to make challenging games. In general, it's a pity that the lads are making only racing games, because they have potential. It is known that Gran Tourismo is a legendary brand and it would be hard to give it up ..... but a break would be welcome in favor of a new project that is not a racing/sports game. Coming back to the game, I have to admit that story-wise it's not that bad for a short arcade experience. It can be compared to Terminator, but in space. Generally speaking, we have to save humanity from a rebellious artificial intelligence. To do this we are sent to the past in order to neutralize it even before its creation. The gameplay is really flashy to the point that sometimes it's hard to grasp what is currently happening on the screen and how to react to it. Decisions have to be made quickly or you could pay for it with your life. There is no mercy. Its soundtrack is also impressive, with the intro and outro featuring the works of such a star as "Static-X." There is rock as well as electronic music, so everyone should find something for themselves. In general, I highly recommend this game because there are not many similar ones, and this one is made really fantastically. Besides, who doesn't like big mechs, which are a time machine and shoot plasma ? :P
