Gravity Beetle - Megaman X3 (Metal Cover) Arranged and Performed by Chris Hmieleski
Originally Composed by Kinuyo Yamashita

This is one that I got requested to do by some friends on twitter(X) ages ago when I first covered Blizzard Buffalo. Back in December I thought it was finally time to give it some love. BB is still my best performing video on the platform and it felt like a good time to see how much I've grown since then.

The writing process made me extremely happy. I know long intros aren't exactly big attention grabbers, but I like writing them and but the time I had the lead in to the main riff figured out, I knew I was onto something cool. It felt like I was adding to the arrangement with my riffs and synth ideas more than just copying what was originally written and that was the north star that I followed until the arrangement was done. With the solo section the way it is, I would easily classify this my hardest song to play (so far).

Then I got to mixing. Things were going so well up until then and I ended up spending far too much time making decisions that really didn't "help" anything. I wound up overcooking my mix a bit but at the time I sent it for streaming services, didn't realize it. Shortly after that (around mid-late january) I sent the mix off to VikingGuitar on twitter for some feedback and he was able to explain to me WHERE I was overcooking it and how to avoid it in the future which I am incredibly grateful for. Unfortunately, I was in too deep to turn back and make changes so Live and Learn I guess.

Lets talk about the video. Can we talk about the video Mac? I've been dying to talk about the video all day. This one was tricky because february was tricky. The good that came of it though is that my awesome wife Michaela and I sat down and discussed a schedule for shooting content and when we came to a conclusion we were happy with, we followed through on it. Videos on this channel will always be on a "when I get it done" basis, but its nice to know I'm going to have dedicated time set aside for it down the line. Also, I wound up getting an new laptop specifically for video editing, and BOY HOWDY does it cut down on Vegas crashes and general downtime. Once the footage was got, everything came together really easily and thats exactly what I want from the process.

All in all, I feel really good about this one. It's not perfect, but I think the song is really cool, I was really proud of my guitar work in it, and I hope you all like it!!
