About this video: In this video, we show you how you to ban and unban players on your Minecraft server. We cover everything from how to temporarily ban players on a Minecraft server to how you can IP ban players on a Minecraft server. It is all covered in this video. Basic banning and unbanning of players will work on all types of Minecraft servers. However, if you want to temp-ban players, you will need a plugin like EsssentialsX on a Bukkit, Spigot, or Paper server to do this. Nevertheless, without any more delay, here is how to ban and unban players on a Minecraft server.
If you are running a vanilla Minecraft server or a Forge server, you can permanently ban players using the /ban (username) command. This will perm ban any player. You can add a reason to this if you want, so /ban (username) (reason), however, they will only be perm banned. They can’t be tempbanned. To unban a player on a default Minecraft server, do /pardon (username). This will unban them and allow them back on the server.
If you want more features when it comes to bans, we recommend getting the plugin EssentialsX. This plugin will add a ton of different features to your server. You will need a Bukkit server or one of the Bukkit forks such as Spigot or Paper in order to install EssentialsX, but it is well worth it. You will also need to install Vault as it is required to run EssentialsX.
With EssentialsX, you can tempban players with the /tempban (username) (time period) (reason). This will temporarily ban a player, and they will be automatically unbanned once the time period is over. This is handy for most servers as you will only be temp banning players with multiple offenses or who have taken extreme measures. You can also temp IP ban players with the command /tempbanip (IP address/username) (time period) (reason). This command will ban anyone on that IP address from joining. To unban players with EssentialsX do /unban (username) or /unbanip (IP address/username) depending on if the players is IP banned or just username banned.
And there you have it! That is the simple guide to how you can ban and unban players on a Minecraft server. From temporarily banning players to how you can perm ban players in Minecraft, this video showed you how to do it all.
