About this video: If you want to know how to play modded Minecraft with your friends in Minecraft 1.16.1 Java Edition, this is the video for you! We show you exactly how to make a modded Minecraft server for 1.16.1 on your PC. We do this by making a Forge server in Minecraft 1.16.1 which will allow you to get most 1.16.1 mods on your server. Thus, without any further delay, here is how you can make a modded Minecraft 1.16.1 server.
The first step of making a modded Minecraft Java Edition server is downloading Forge. You can find the link to our Forge tutorial in the description above. Once you are there, click on the green ‘Download Forge’ button. This will take you to Forge’s official website where you will need to make sure the 1.16.1 version of Forge is selected. To do this, click ‘1.16’ in the right-hand sidebar, and select ‘1.16.1’. That will open up the Forge 1.16.1 download section. Once you here, go under download latest, and click on ‘Installer’. You will then be taken to a page where you have wait 6 seconds and click ‘Skip Ad’ in the top right. Forge 1.16.1 will then start downloading. You will need to keep/save the file depending on your browser.
First things first, you need to create a folder on your desktop called ‘1.16.1 Forge Server’. Then, right-click on the Forge file you downloaded, click on ‘Open With’, and select ‘Java’. This will open up the Forge Mod System Installer. here, you want to click on ‘Install Server’, and then click on the three dots in the red box that appears. This will open up a folder selector. Select the 1.16.1 Forge Server folder you created. Click ‘OK’. The Forge server will begin installing.
Open up the folder you created. Right-click in this folder, and click ‘New’, and then select ‘Text Document’. Open that New Text Document, and copy the RAM code from the description above. Save it as ‘run.bat’, and make sure you change the ‘Save Type’ to ‘all files’.
You will now have a run.bat file in this folder. Double click it, and an ‘EULA.txt’ file will appear. Change ‘EULA=false’ to ‘EULA=true’. Save the file, and click the ‘run.bat’ file again. At this point, your modded Minecraft server will open up. Now, you can join your server using your local IPv4 address. However, if you want to play modded Minecraft with friends, you will need to port forward.
Specifically, you will need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. Then, for your friends to play on your modded Minecraft server in 1.16.1, you will need to get your public IP address from the link above and give that to them. They will also need Forge installed locally.
