About this video: If you want to know how to change your Minecraft version on PC, this is the video for you! We show you exactly how to download and install any version of Minecraft you want. We go over every single step of getting Minecraft 1.16 setup, so without any more delay, here is how you can set Minecraft 1.16 on PC.
The first step is making sure you have the official Minecraft launcher. You can find our in-depth tutorial on downloading and installing the Minecraft Launcher in the description above. It shows you how to get Minecraft from Minecraft.net and even goes over how to buy Minecraft Java Edition if you don’t have it already. After you have the Minecraft Launcher downloaded, you will need to login to your Mojang account.
Once you have the Minecraft Launcher installed, we can show you how to change your Minecraft version and how to download and install Minecraft 1.16. This is actually really easily. To play the newest version of Minecraft, just click the little arrow to the left of the big green ‘Play’ button, and click ‘Latest Release’. Then, click ‘Play’. Minecraft will now open up with the newest version that is currently out. From Minecraft 1.16 to Minecraft 1.17, no matter what the newest stable release of Minecraft is, it will open.
What if you want to change your Minecraft version to something that isn’t the most recent release though. This is actually really simple too. Just go to the Minecraft Launcher, and click on the ‘Installations’ tab at the top of the screen. Next, click the ‘+ new’ button. This will open up a screen where you can name the version you are installing. Then, click the 'drop down box where it says 'Latest Release'. You will now see all of the versions of Minecraft that have ever been released. Select the one that you want to play on.
Now, click ‘Create’ in the bottom right. You will see the version you created on your screen. Hover over it, and a green play button will appear. Click that green ‘Play’ button. Minecraft will now open up with version you select, and that is how you can install any version of Minecraft that you want.
