Before you can use data packs in Minecraft 1.17.1, you need to learn how to download data packs in Minecraft. After you have your data packs downloaded, we can get them installed. Most data packs won’t need to be unzipped. However, some of them will say ‘unzip’ or ‘extract’ in the title of the file you downloaded. If this is the case, you will want to right-click on the datapack, click extract, and click extract all. This will then create a new folder. In that folder, you will find the datapack(s) you want to install.
To install data packs in Minecraft 1.17.1, open up Minecraft. Then, click on single player. Click once on the world you want to add your data packs to. Then, click ‘edit’ in the bottom right. You will then see an 'open world folder' button. Click that, and your world folder will open. In this folder, you will see a 'datapacks' folder. Open that folder. Now, drag-and-drop all of the data packs you want to install in Minecraft 1.17.1 into this folder.
Go back to Minecraft and launch the world you just added the data packs to. You will now have data packs in Minecraft 1.17.1! Some of these data packs may have different commands or things that you need to do in order to use the data packs. These are usually listed on the datapack’s download page.
