How to Fix PS4 Stuck in Safe Mode & Fix Safe Mode Loop (Best Method)
Getting your PS4 stuck in Safe Mode or caught in a Safe Mode loop can be a frustrating experience. Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode that allows you to fix certain system issues. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you resolve this problem, moving from less drastic solutions to more involved ones.
Before You Start (Important!):
Connect your controller via USB: In Safe Mode, the wireless connection for your controller is disabled. You must connect your DualShock 4 controller to the PS4 using a USB cable and press the PS button to navigate the menu. Ensure it's a data-transfer cable, not just a charging cable.
Power Cycle: Sometimes, a simple power cycle can fix a temporary glitch.
Turn off your PS4 completely. Don't put it in Rest Mode.
Unplug the power cable from the back of the console.
Wait for at least 20 minutes to allow any residual power to drain.
Plug the power cable back in and try turning on your PS4 normally. If it boots into Safe Mode again, proceed with the steps below.
Restart PS4 (Option 1): The simplest attempt.
Change Resolution (Option 2): If it's a display issue, this might fix it.
Update System Software (Option 3):
Internet: Try updating directly online.
Restore Default Settings (Option 4): Resets settings, keeps games/saves.
Rebuild Database (Option 5): Scans and reorganizes the hard drive; often fixes many issues without data loss.
Initialize PS4 (Option 6): WARNING: Deletes ALL data. Use this if the above fail and you have backups.
