How To Heal From Trauma: Cognitive Coping For Traumatic Grief | Psychotherapy Crash Course
Apologies for forgetting to add words on screen for the following terms:
Cognitive defusion:
"“defusion is the ability to seperate from your thoughts and to let them come and go, instead of getting caught up in them, or allowing them to dictate what you do. Defusion provides a powerful way to deal effectively with painful, unhelpful or self-defeating thoughts and beliefs.”

Cognitive Fusion:
"is a process that involves attaching a thought to an experience. Cognitive fusion is beneficial in many ways. Through the process of cognitive fusion, people can become interested in story lines in movies and books because they attach their emotions to the events."

Healing from trauma entails way more than just tips about how to change your mind. Although I respect most aspects of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), it isn't a "one size fits all" approach to helping people heal.
CBT has a lot of good components and many humans who struggle with negative thought patterns, negative attributions, and thought distortions can benefit from its concrete approach to changing the mind. But traumatic grief and generalized trauma is a process and that process can take a variety of approaches and years of patience and time.
Incorporating CBT into your daily life and creating a routine still doesn't hurt.
In this video, I suggest a few practice ways to start the process of healing from trauma and traumatic grief.
I welcome your comments and questions!
