How to Link 2 Phones with 1 Account on WhatsApp
To link two phones to one WhatsApp account using Companion Mode, follow these steps:
Requirements:
Primary phone: The phone with the active WhatsApp account and registered phone number.
Secondary phone: The second phone you want to link.
Both phones need WhatsApp installed (latest version) and an internet connection.
No SIM card is required on the secondary phone.
Steps:
Install WhatsApp on the Secondary Phone:
Download WhatsApp from the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) on the secondary phone.
Ensure it’s updated to the latest version.
Open WhatsApp on the Secondary Phone:
Launch WhatsApp and select your language.
On the phone number entry screen, don’t enter a number.
Access Linking Option:
Android: Tap the three dots (top-right) - Link to existing account.
iOS: Tap Link this device to an existing account.
A QR code will appear on the secondary phone.
Link Using the Primary Phone:
Open WhatsApp on your primary phone.
Android: Tap three dots - Linked Devices - Link a device.
iOS: Go to Settings - Linked Devices - Link a device.
Scan the QR code on the secondary phone with the primary phone’s camera.
Alternative (Phone Number Linking):
On the secondary phone, after selecting Link to existing account, choose Link with phone number instead.
Enter your primary phone number.
Receive a one-time passcode on your primary phone (via SMS or WhatsApp) and enter it on the secondary phone.
Syncing:
WhatsApp will sync chats, contacts, and groups to the secondary phone. This may take a moment based on your connection and chat history.
