About this video: This video will show you exactly how to start a prison Minecraft server using Apex Minecraft Hosting. Why would you want to use Apex Minecraft Hosting to start your prison server? Well, Apex has simple setup of prison servers. They have a spawn, mines, cells, and everything else already built. They also have all of the plugins configured and everything is working together by default automatically. You can then go in and make changes to your prison Minecraft server and customize it how you want with Apex as a base. This really is the easiest way to create your own prison server in Minecraft, so let’s jump right on into it!
First things first, you will need to is buy your Apex server. You can find our affiliate link in the description above. If you use that link to purchase, we get a small commission at no additional cost to you. Once you are on Apex’s website, click ‘Get Started’. Then, scroll down to where you can select how much RAM your server has. We recommend 4GB or RAM for a prison server. Click ‘Order Now’ on 4GB, and you will be taken to a page where you can start entering in your information.
The most important part of this page is the ‘server version’ drop down. Here, you want to select ‘Prison’. This will ensure that your prison is setup from the moment you start your server. You can change this later to a modpack or anything else you want, but it will make your prison server inaccessible. After selecting this, continue on through the purchase process.
After you have gotten your server, you will have an email with the server’s IP address. Type this into Minecraft multiplayer as your server IP, and you will join your prison server. By default you should have OP which means you can run admin commands in game. Your friends or anyone else who joins your Prison server though will not be OP’d. The good thing about making a prison server this way is that ranks and permissions are already setup!
What if you want change your prison server though? To do this, you will need to login to the Apex control panel. The login info for this is the initial email you received with a link to their Multicraft control panel as well. Click this and login. From there, you can click ‘FTP File Access’ on the right hand side. Login here, and you can manage all of the plugins on your server. You can also change configuration files and truthfully modify every single part of your prison Minecraft server. This can be great for making the server feel like your own.
