About this video: This video is our complete guide on how to make a Spigot server in Minecraft 1.15.1. This will allow you to get plugins on your Minecraft server without as much lag as you will get with Bukkit as Spigot is a more optimized version of Bukkit. We also show you how to port forward your Spigot 1.15.1 server in order to play on a Spigot server in Minecraft 1.15.1. Thus, let's go ahead and go over exactly how to setup a Spigot server in Minecraft 1.15.1.
First up, we will need to download Spigot 1.15.1. You can find the Spigot server files for Minecraft 1.15.1 linked in the description above. There, you will find the official Spigot download page where you want to click 'Download' next to 1.15.1. You will now be taken to a page that has 'Spigot 1.15.1' highlighted in yellow. Click on the text, and your download will begin.
Now, you need to create a folder on your desktop titled 'Spigot 1.15.1 Server'. Drag and drop the file you downloaded into it, right-click, select 'create new', and then click 'Text Document'. Open up this new text document, and copy one of the codes from the description above into it. Then, click 'file', 'save as', and save this file with the name 'run.bat'. Also, make sure you change save type as to 'all files'.
Once you have done this, rename the Spigot server file you downloaded to 'Spigot.jar'. After that, double click the run.bat file. Some files will generate in your folder, but the server won't start. You need to agree to the EULA. To do this, open the EULA.txt file, and change 'EULA=false' to 'EULA=true'. Then, double click on the run.bat file again. Now, your Minecraft 1.15.1 Spigot server will startup. You'll see all of the folders and files needed for a server start to generate.
At this point, you have started a Spigot server in Minecraft 1.15.1, but if you want your friends to join your server, you will still need to port forward the port '25565' on the TCP and UDP protocols. Once you do that, your friends will join your server off of your public IP address. Be careful though as this is just made for people you trust as it is in fact hosted off of your public IP address.
