The first step of allocating more RAM to Minecraft 1.15 is figuring out how much RAM you have on your computer to add to Minecraft in the first place. You can do this by clicking on the little Windows icon in the bottom left of your screen, and searching for 'System Information'. You will have an app appear. Open that, and you will see all of the information about your computer. Start off by clicking your 'System Type'. Most likely it's 'x64-based PC' if not that's okay, you just can't add more than 2GB of RAM to Minecraft 1.15.1.
Speaking of RAM, you need to check the 'Installed Physical Memory' section. This is how much RAM your PC has. You cannot add more than half of your installed physical memory to Minecraft 1.15. Doing so will make your computer crash, so it is important to keep this in mind when allocating your RAM to Minecraft later in the tutorial.
At this point, it is time to open the Minecraft launcher. Once you are here, click on the 'installations' tab on the top of the Minecraft launcher. You will then see all of the Minecraft installations you have. Hover over the version that you want to play, and click on the three dots that appear on it. Now, click 'edit', and then, click the 'more options' text. You will then see a 'Java Arguments' text box. In that text box, you will see -Xmx2G right at the begging. the '2G' part means you have 2GB of RAM dedicated to Minecraft. If you want to dedicate 4GB of RAM to Minecraft, you would change this to '-Xmx4G'. The amount of RAM you can add here is only limited by the amount of RAM on your PC.
However, how much RAM should you add to Minecraft 1.15? Well, it depends on what you are doing. Vanilla MInecraft 1.15 with now mods doesn't need more than 4GB of RAM. However, when you add a TON of mods to Minecraft 1.15 using modpacks and stuff, you will need up to 8GB of RAM, and modpacks with over 300 mods may need even more RAM than that. Just remember though, you can't add more than half the amount of RAM you have to Minecraft without crashing your computer!
