How to Turn Off or Disable an Application on your Android Phone (Settings Tutorial)
Disabling or removing unwanted apps on your Android phone can help free up storage space and improve performance. Here are two methods you can use:
Using the App Launcher:
Open your phone’s app drawer (usually done by tapping the Apps button on your home screen or swiping up).
Press and hold the app you want to disable.
A contextual menu will appear with options to disable or uninstall the app.
Select the appropriate option and confirm the removal.
Note that if there is no option to uninstall or disable the app, it might be a system app that cannot be disabled.
Using the Settings Menu:
Navigate to your phone’s Settings.
Tap on Apps or Applications (the name may vary depending on your device).
You’ll see a list of all installed apps.
Find the app you want to remove.
At the bottom of the screen, you may see an option to disable or uninstall it.
Select the appropriate option and confirm the removal.
Again, if there’s no option to uninstall or disable, it’s likely a system app.
Remember that you can always re-enable any previously disabled app if needed. To do so:
Go to Settings - Apps.
Look for the disabled app (they are usually annotated).
Tap on the app you want to enable.
At the bottom of the screen, tap Turn on to instantly enable it.
