How to Turn Off Saving Gameplay & Auto Captures on PS5 (Best Method)
The PlayStation 5 has a feature that automatically saves gameplay clips and screenshots whenever you unlock a trophy or a challenge. While this can be a fun way to capture memorable moments, it can also quickly fill up your console's storage. The best way to manage this is to change the Auto-Captures settings.
How to Turn Off Automatic Captures
This method is the most effective because it stops the console from automatically saving media based on in-game events.
From the PS5 home screen, go to Settings (the gear icon in the top-right corner).
Scroll down and select Captures and Broadcasts.
In the left-hand menu, choose Captures.
Scroll down to the Auto-Captures section. Here you will see two main categories:
Trophies
Challenges
Select Trophies to manage trophy-related captures. You will see two options:
Save Trophy Screenshots: This will save a screenshot every time you get a trophy. You can change this to "None," "Platinum Only," or "Gold, Silver, and Platinum." To completely disable it, choose None.
Save Trophy Videos: This will save a short video clip every time you earn a trophy. To turn this off completely, change the setting to None.
Go back to the Auto-Captures menu and select Challenges.
Here, you can also disable the automatic saving of video clips when you achieve a personal best in a game's challenges.
After making these changes, your PS5 will no longer automatically save gameplay clips or screenshots every time you unlock a trophy or complete a challenge.
