You want to prevent your PS4 from automatically downloading and installing system software updates and also turn off automatic updates for your games and applications. This can be useful for various reasons, such as preserving data, avoiding updates that might conflict with certain games, or simply controlling when updates happen.

Here's how to turn off both:

Part 1: Turning Off Automatic System Software Updates

Go to Settings: From your PS4 home screen, navigate up to the row of icons and select "Settings" (the toolbox icon).

Select System: Scroll down and select "System."

Select Automatic Downloads: Within the System menu, select "Automatic Downloads."

Uncheck "System Software Update Files":

You will see an option for "System Software Update Files." Uncheck the box next to this option.
