Welcome to the Retro Gamer 365 where we are gaming every day! I am your host for this video and I am Professor Stu. Today we are continuing our series on Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition with Blanka's playthrough!

Blanka is the well-known green behemoth present in Street Fighter games that is characterized by his entirely unskilled fighting style. Blanka has no training else than the fact that he grew up in the jungles of Brazil around the Amazon and thus fights rather similar to an ape would be considered to fight. Somehow in the process, (electrical eels perhaps?), he picked up the ability to discharge great amounts of electricity from his body, shocking whomever makes physical contact with him.

Blanka is a bit of a conundrum as the question is: "what is up with his backstory?" According to the Street Fighter II game series every ending has him in some sort of reunion with his mother, his name is actually Jimmy, and he was in a plane crash over the Amazon as a small child and he somehow morphed into the green beast with a shock of red hair that we see today. If you watch the Street Fighter II movie with Jean Claude Van Damme as Guile then his best friend, Charlie, is turned into Blanka during the movie. Which one is it? Both are official from Capcom so I guess we'll never really know...

Anyways, Blanka's move set is as follows going from easiest to most difficult. "Electric Thunder" is performed by repeatedly tapping a punch button; light punch works easiest and does not affect the damage or range of the attack. "Rolling Attack" make Blanka fly, in a ball, from one side of the screen to the other in a straight line horizontally with the distance and speed based upon which punch button is pushed. Charge back and then forward with any punch is the input. "Vertical Roll" has Blanka fling himself up into the air at a diagonal which he then comes out of and drops down vertically, ready to attack again. The input for this attack is charge down and then up with a kick, strength determining the distance and power. Blanka also has "Backstep Roll" which is similar to the last two except he launches at an arc forward after jumping slightly backwards. The input for this one is charge back and then forward with a kick, same deal as the last two. Finally, Blanka has two abilities which are plainly called "Surprise Forward" and "Surprise Back" which are really short dashes and they are performed by pushing a direction as well as all three kick buttons simultaneously. Blanka's EX or Hyper move is "Ground Shave Roll" is performed by charging back and then forward, back, forward with a punch. This attack can be held to continue moving Blanka around the stage by holding down the punch button until you wish to release the move. It is a doubles version of the Rolling Attack.

As can be seen in the video, I timed out against Akuma to finish the fight but at least I won. Because of that I have the full credits and the ending scene with Akuma.

That is all for this video, hit those subscribe and like buttons and keep on gaming every day! We'll see you next time for Zangief's playthrough!
