Welcome to the Retro Gamer 365 where we are gaming every day! I am your host for the day, Professor Stu, and we will be picking up where we left off last time, with Zangief's playthrough of Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition!

Zangief is the muscle-bound Russian who is infamous for his difficulty in play. His moves are almost entirely based upon the (at least for me) almost impossible to pull off full 360 degree directional movement. On certain games such as Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 or Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the Dreamcast I was able to master this movement and can do it with little difficulty but it took A LOT OF PRACTICE!

Zangief seems to have little background or story in any of the Street Fighter II games else than an apparent desire to make Mother Russia proud by winning the Street Fighter Tournament. Of course, if you play as him and finish the game, then you do such and the president of Russian congratulates him with a dance.

Even though Zangief is absurdly slow at walking, he is easily the strongest character in the game for standard attacks and, with the exception of boss characters, has the strongest super moves in the game.

As for his moves, Zangief's easiest moves to pull off in this game are the "Double Lariat" and the "Quick Double Lariat." These moves have him spin in a circle with both arms extended and is a good anti-air attack. To perform them, push all three punches or kicks simultaneously and respectively. For Zangief's "Spinning Piledriver" the input is 360 direction with a punch while near an opponent. The "Flying Power Bomb" actually has some movement range as he will walk forward a bit before slamming the opponent and is performed with a 360 and a kick. The "Atomic Suplex" is the same input as the Flying Power Bomb but Zangief must be in melee range of the opponent to perform it. Zangief's final move is an anti-projectile attack which does some damage as well and is called "Banishing Flat." It is performed by inputting forward, forward diagonal down, down, and a punch. Zangief's EX or Hyper move is, not surprisingly, a longer version of the Atomic Suplex, Flying Power Bomb, and Spinning Piledriver mixed up in one attack named "Final Atomic Buster" and it is performed by a double 360 move with a punch.

In the video I lost to Akuma, not all that unexpectedly I might add, and so I did not get the credits. Zangief's dancing is pretty entertaining however and should brighten up anybody's day! That is all for this video so hit those subscribe and like buttons and keep on gaming every day! Next up is going to be Chun-Li's playthrough!
