I'm back with some more test of the new Kerbal Space Program 1.0 atmosphere and aerodynamics changes. I first test some of the liquid fueled rocket engines out, then we test some aircraft.

We first test out some liquid rocket engines with just the engine, a fuel take, a probe body and a nose cone. It seems like for the shorter rockets, as they speed up, they have a tendency to get flipped over by aerodynamic forces. That seems to be lessened by having a longer rocket, but apparently that they to have issues when attempting to turn.

So then I try the same test, but with adding fins to the rockets. this seems to help all but the smallest rocket, with probably has the center of left in front of the center of mass. The other rockets do well, with some even getting possible intercepts with Duna!

I then take a look at some aircraft. I fly the Ravenspear Mk4 and Mk3. The Ravenspear Mk4 is optimized for low altitude flight, featuring four basic jet engines. It will approach the speed of sound, but it doesn't really seem to be able to attain speeds that would cause parts to break off of it. I attempt to land it, but I lose control while doing S curves to slow down. The Mk3 version is built for high altitude high speed flight, with 2 turbojet engines. I'm able to fly this at over 1 km/s and to over 22 km, but in the process I break off the tail fins and the canards, making control of the craft much more difficult. I attempt to land on an island, but due to the loss of the canards, I have difficulty holding the nose up and crash.

I then show off a craft of my own design. Having one jet engine and two turbojet engines and plenty of air intakes, it can fly up to about 25 km. Using only the jet engine, it flys well, if a bit slow. Activating the turbojet engines, and the plane really takes off, and can easily reach dangerous speeds. If this does occur, the wing strakes will explode first, but will leave the craft flyable if you quickly slow down, using the attached airbrakes. If you fail to slow down, like i did, then the canards will come off next, and then the craft become a bit harder to control. I almost land this plane after losing the canards, but the crew does survive!

Finally I show off a large airliner like plane, that can hold 100 Kerbals. It's not the best flyer, and landings are difficult with it's landing gear arrangement, but not much else can move that many kerbals at once!
