Kinnukiman: MUSCLE Tag Match Famicom / NES CRT TV Playthrough asmr
1Released 11/8/1985, Kinnukiman: MUSCLE Tag Match for Famicom is a wrestling game set in the Kinnukiman universe of anime and manga. This game would quickly make it to the NES, although most Westerners would have only had a passing familiarity with Kinnukiman characters through some action figures released in 1985 by Mattell. The anime television show, Kinnukiman, never had an English dub, so many people have never seen it.

The show on which the game is based could be described as Fist of the North Star on acid. Kinnukiman is an alien who gets left behind on Earth while his parents are on vacation. He competes with wrestlers from around the world in the Choujin Olympics. He fights wildly offensive characters like a Nazi named Brockenman and a Satanist named Buffaloman. In the Famicom version of this game, you can actually play as these characters. It's no wonder they were replaced in the NES version, Brockenman's signature move is listed as "Nazi gas method" in the Famicom manual.
The game itself is quite good, if you can look past the problematic content. Kinnukiman's face is perfect, and the other characters are also done well. The Power Ball given by Meat which unlocks each character's signature move even anticipates a similar mechanic used in Super Smash Bros. Brawl by more than 30 years! It's not the best wrestling game on the NES, but it's definitely not the worst.
I am considering a playthrough to be beating the Hi Score. I played on an original NES with a Game Genie adapter (see Shorts) to allow for playing a Famicom cartridge. I am using a NES Advantage controller, RCA cables, and a Sharp X-Flat 27" CRT TV.
