Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 2 - Part 2: Ye Scurvy Kremling Crew
It's time for the second half of Gangplank Galleon: 1-4, 1-5, and the World 1 boss. 1-4 is Lockjaw's Locker, the first underwater stage in this game. Underwater stages in DKC2 aren't 100% underwater most of the time; the water level usually rises and falls, as it does here. Lockjaw's Locker is named after Lockjaw, a nasty little fish enemy that tries to lunge at you and bite you, and it is set in the lower chambers of a ship, where there are many crates and barrels. Enguarde, our faithful swordfish companion who acts the same as he does in the first and third games, is here as well. 1-5 is Topsail Trouble, another rigging stage, with rain instead of mist this time. This stage isn't hard, but if you want all the goodies, the first half of it is really easy to mess up on...as I demonstrated repeatedly in the video. Hey, better to have to replay part of an easy stage than a hard one, right? There's another animal buddy here: Rattly the snake. He's always coiled up and allows you to make big bouncy jumps while riding him. Yes, a snake that bounces...just accept it and move on. There are, of course, more ropes here, and the main enemies you'll have to deal with are Zingers, bees that can't be killed by most things and tend to get in your way.
After Topsail Trouble, it's time to fight the first boss of the game: Krow. His stage is called "Krow's Nest". He's a crow (obviously), and he flies around dropping eggs that bounce and can be picked up and thrown at him. After two hits, he will shake the nest and drop more eggs, some of which can't be picked up. He's simple enough to finish off, though. One world down, seven to go? I think so!
