Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 2 - Part 9: I Don't Even Know What To Call This One
Continuing through Krazy Kremland, we come upon a rather infamous stage: Bramble Scramble (4-3, if it matters). As you could guess from the name, this is another bramble-themed one, but instead of using barrels to get around like you did in Bramble Blast, you actually have to fly through the brambles with Squawks (who is, incidentally, the only animal buddy that you can't lose once he's carrying you). At least, most of it is flying...there's somje climbing on vines and the like as well. This stage actually takes quite a while to get through, especially if you're going for all the bonuses (well, *the* bonus) and DK coin. It seems to have a bit of a bad reputation because of the brambles and how easy it can be to fly too far in one direction and run into them, but I personally don't find this stage all that bad, really. The next one is another roller coaster stage, 4-4, Rickety Race, and its gimmick is that you're in this "race" with 9 Kremling cars. (I can't remember what the enemy is actually called...Klank, maybe?) If you pass one, you move up one place, and if you jump on one, you get an item from him. As long as you make it to the end, you'll beat the level no matter what place you were in, but you must jump on the first-place Kremling to get the DK coin. The trick here is that the track doesn't cut off at the starting line...if you go backward a little at the start of the race, you'll find a barrel that boosts your speed. Then there's 4-5, Mudhole Marsh. It's another swamp stage, harder than either of the ones in the previous world, with more enemies and trickier jumps. It's simple enough to get through, though, as long as you're paying attention. Yeah, the three stages here aren't very similar to one another in theme, and what do brambles and a swamp have to do with an amusement park anyway? Welcome to Krazy Kremland.
