Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 2 - Part 12: Storms and Swarms
Now that the easy part of Gloomy Gulch is over, it's time for a few trickier stages, starting with Gusty Glade (5-3). Gusty Glade is another haunted forest level, and the gimmick here is the wind. Yes, this stage has the infamous wind, and it will be blowing you forward or back almost constantly. It's not so bad this time, but unfortunately, this isn't the only level with wind...but we'll worry about that when the time comes. Later in the stage, it even switches direction without stopping in between. Rattly is also here for the first half, although it might not actually be easier to use him.... The next stage takes off on a completely different angle, though. This one, 5-4, is called Parrot Chute Panic, and it's the last of the beehive-themed stages. It introduces us to an unnamed relative of Squawks, who's purple, can't spit eggs, and isn't strong enough to carry the Kongs upward. At least his DKC3 incarnation could pick up barrels (and fly up, once you transformed into him)... You'll be spending most of the stage flying downward, and most of that flying involves navigating through a whole mess of Zingers. This is not one of my favorite stages, certainly, but what can I say?
