Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 3 GBA - Part 3: Hike Through the Woods
Having taken down the giant mutant barrel monster of the lake, we move on to World 2, Kremwood Forest. This is obviously the forest world of the game, though it also has some riverside levels and a mill. 2-1 is actually Springin' Spiders in this version of the game rather than Barrel Shield Bust-Up; those two levels switched places. It is admittedly an easier level and probably a better introduction, so it's fair enough. The level focuses on a type of bouncing spider with a platform on its back called Nid, and Squawks also makes a brief appearance in the level. The new forest level music definitely isn't as good as its SNES counterpart, though. 2-2, Riverside Race, is one level that I used to have a lot of trouble with...in this level, you are chased by a swarm of bees and have to hurry to the exit. You also have to complete the level in under 1 minute and 15 seconds to unlock this world's Banana Bird cave, which pretty much means you'll be doing the level twice, since it is essentially impossible to get the bonuses and DK coin and still get to the end in the given time. (If anyone actually could do this, I'd be impressed.) And since I was just a bit too slow the first time, I actually had to do the level three times. At least it's a short one. 2-3, Squeals On Wheels, is a mill level with a gimmick where there are rats in wheels that must all be defeated to complete the level. It's a pretty easy level, though you will have to backtrack if you miss any.
