Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 3 GBA - Part 5: Many Waters
With two worlds down, as mentioned last time, we gain access to the hovercraft, which allows us access to the next part of the overworld. We actually have a choice of two different worlds here: Cotton-Top Cove and Mekanos. You must complete them both to progress, but it doesn't matter which one you do first. I like to do Cotton-Top Cove first, though, because it seems the more natural choice, and the cast of characters suggests that this was intended more as the actual World 3. Cotton-Top Cove is the water world...or, at least, one of them. Lake Orangatanga had water in a few stages, but all of them in this world feature it in some form. The first level, Bazza's Blockade, is the first level to be completely underwater. It functions more or less as any other underwater level in a Donkey Kong Country game would (well, any SNES Donkey Kong Country game...I will never forgive Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for screwing up its underwater levels so completely and horribly), with the added gimmick of a constantly-respawning fish called Bazza. The second level introduces the waterfall theme, where you will mostly be going vertically, in front of and behind waterfalls. It also has a unique gimmick, barrels that rocket upward and shoot you out at the apex of their path. These give the level its name, Rocket Barrel Ride. Then the third level here, Kreeping Klasps, brings back the lakeside theme and introduces an enemy called Klasp that climbs on ropes and explodes when touched.
