Well, this is about the part of the game where I started playing rather carelessly...but we'll get to that. We now tackle the other area that opened up after we cleared Kremwood Forest and got the hovercraft, Mekanos. This is more or less a factory-themed world, with metal platforms, large vats of molten metal, and drainpipes that must be traversed. Our first level is Fire-Ball Frenzy, which introduces little owls with fireball-shooting cannons called Karbine, an enemy type that never shows up anywhere else. They assault you while you're climbing ropes, jumping across platforms, and the like. The next level, Demolition Drain-Pipe, introduces us to this game's equivalent of mine cart levels with a wild toboggan ride through a large pipe full of bees and ladybugs. (I died three times during this one, though two of those deaths were delibterate due to missing bonus barrels.) Then we have the infamous Ripsaw Rage, where you're back in the forest, but this time with a giant saw chasing you up the trees! The level auto-scrolls at the same rate as the saw moves upward, too.
