Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 3 - Part 18: The Action Draws to a Close...
There are just a few things left to do before I can consider this LP over. First of all, now that we have all 41 DK coins, we can take them to Funky and get an awesome new vehicle...the "Gyrocopter"! It's a helicopter that, of course, can go over ANY surface, even land. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do with it once you have it...you do, however, need it to get 103% completion. There are three Banana Bird caves that you need the copter to access, and if you go to the top-left corner of the map, you will find, hidden in the clouds...the MOTHER Banana Bird. Apparently, all the birds you rescue in the game before were her children, and she has been imprisoned by an evil spell of K. Rool's. But I thought K. Rool was a mad scientist in this one?... If you rescue all 15 Banana Birds, they break the spell...and we get to watch an amusing clip in which the mother Banana Bird, with Dixie and Kiddy riding on her back, chases K. Rool, who is riding a hovercraft. After the chase is over (hint: K. Rool doesn't escape), we get to see a high scores list, where your percentage and game time is shown. (In case you're curious, I think my best time for 103% was 3:45, 3 hours and 45 minutes, on the actual SNES console. I got 4:09 on this run, and the person whose completed .srm file I downloaded apparently got 4:02.)
I also show the credits sequence in this one. Since the credits appear only when you defeat K. Rool the first time, I actually recorded them between parts 14 and 15, so if they seem a bit disjointed, it's because I just spliced them in here.
After the credits, there's nothing more to watch, but I wasn't finished talking yet. I simply discuss my plans for the future with respect to LPing. I do plan to make more videos in the future; I have several games in mind already. The next game I want to LP is a PlayStation game, though, and unfortunately, I haven't gotten a PlayStation emulator to work fully in quite some time. If I can't figure out how to fix the glitches, I—and you—will just have to put up with them. There's the remote possibility of recording directly from the console, since I do own one, but I know next to nothing about capture cards. I can't record where the TV is, and I highly doubt there's any piece of technology that will allow me to hook a PlayStation to my computer, have the game show up on the computer screen, and let me record both the screen and the microphone and the audio simultaneously, let alone do all this without making my computer lag. (Considering how new this laptop is, it ought to run better than it does...) If any of my viewers could help me with this whole mess, I'd be much obliged.
In any case, that's all for now. Another LP comes to an end, and I enjoyed recording it (despite the mistakes). I'll see you all next time!
