Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 3 - Part 9: Making Mountains Out Of...Mountains
I think I'm just going to upload all my videos at the university library from now on. They upload so much faster there! Ahhh...beautiful lovely stable Internet connection...
Anyway, here we are at World 5, a mountain known as K3. Things are beginning to heat up a bit at the start of the second half of the game. 5-1 is Krevice Kreepers, our first mountain-themed stage, in which Klasp, who first appeared in 3-3, makes a return appearance (actually, he doesn't appear in any stages other than those two). The mountains are full of platforms, ropes, and in this case, Klasps...and that's about it, really. You climb up, down, and across ropes while avoiding the nasty orange baddies, you look for the bonuses and DK coin (all of them a bit off the main path), and you try not to get yourself blown up. There are no bottomless pits in this one; the Klasps pose the only real threat.
5-2, Tearaway Toboggan, is another mine-cart stage (if you can call them mine carts). This one takes place in a snow-bound land, where the bee and ladybug enemies are joined by an old adversary: Skidda, whom we haven't seen since the first world of the game. He can be jumped on easily enough, but you'll be going a bit faster than you were back in Demolition Drain-Pipe.
Finally, we come to the third and final waterfall stage, and yes, barrels are involved. 5-3 is called Barrel Drop Bounce, and it isn't really any more difficult than the waterfall stages in Cotton-Top Cove, but it can be tricky to find the bonuses in this one. There are barrels falling slowly down waterfalls, and you must use them as platforms to get higher. The rest is pretty much standard platforming fare.
