Let's Play Donkey Kong Country 3 - Part 11: Underground Operations
Razor Ridge, World 6, is next on the list. I quite like this one, actually; the world map is interesting, and it has some fun and unique stages. These stages aren't exactly short, though; this was the longest video yet. (I didn't die THAT many times, did I?)
6-1 is Buzzer Barrage, another "transform into an animal buddy and stay that way till the end" stage. Here, you transform into Squawks's purple relative (who seems to appear in the game more often than Squawks himself) and drop barrels on bees to get them out of your way. You'll be doing this a lot in this stage, so get used to it. This is also the first cave stage in the game, and I have to say, the graphics definitely fit the environment. We also get introduced to Kopter, a rather annoying invincible flying enemy (and this isn't the last we see of him, either).
6-2 is Kong-Fused Cliffs, a stage that I don't find to be as annoying as it ought to be. It's another chase/autoscroller/whatever you want to call it, somewhat reminiscient of Ripsaw Rage but substantially more difficult. A rope hangs down the middle of the screen, and it is constantly being burned away by a flame at the bottom. You must climb the rope all the way to the top, avoiding various enemies along the way (Buzzes and Kopters) and keeping ahead of the flame at all times, since it damages you if you touch it.
6-3 is Floodlit Fish, the last underwater stage...and this one is interesting. The gimmick here is that the stage is very dark, and, once you have transformed into Enguarde (this game seems to have an awful lot of those transformation barrels, doesn't it?), you can poke a special yellow fish to make it light up everything, which obviously makes it easier to see. If you wait too long, the stage starts to get dark again, and you have to find another yellow fish. It really doesn't make a huge difference whether it's light or dark, though; even when it's as dark as it can get, it never gets pitch-black, and you can still see well enough to know where the enemies and stuff are. (Nor, for that matter, is the stage at maximum brightness when it is fully lit up.)
