Let's Play Mega Man X6 - Part 5: Weapons of Infinite Power
Okay, this video was just plain too long. Part of this is the cutscenes and messages...I am unwilling to skip them, though. What do my viewers think? Would you rather I skip the cutscenes and miss some of the plot or leave them in and make the video substantially longer?
Anyway, in this one, I go through the Weapon Center, home to Infinity Mijinion. Infinity Flea. Infinity Water Flea. Whatever you want to call him. It is also home to a HUGE robot named Illumina, who attacks you nonstop throughout the stage. There are two parts; the first one involves Infinity Mijinion firing large rays at you, and the second has her bringing out three small bots and a tracking beam. When said tracking beam locks onto you, the three bots fire laser beams at you. At the end of both the first and second parts, there is a large power cable that you must destroy in a sort of midboss battle with Illumina. Once you've destroyed them both, Illumina will no longer bother you, and you can then either walk a few feet to the boss door or enter the secondary area portal. This stage is amazingly short, but unfortunately, because it's so short, it has very few checkpoints. You get one after beating Illumina (NOT after the first half) and one in the boss hall, which are so close together, they might as well be one checkpoint unless you're on the hardest difficulty setting. It does have awesome music, though; Infinity Mijinion's stage music is one of my favorites in the series.
The secondary area is really short as well. Like Shield Sheldon's, it has a lot of ropes in it...and that's about it. You just cross the ropes above the bottomless pit to reach the boss door. Since Nightmare Zero has already been defeated, we now have a different boss to take on, High Max...who is quite a pain in the butt, to be frank. He's open most of the time, but you can't just hit him like you would any other boss; you have to first hit him with a fully-charged X-Buster shot and then, while he's stunned, him him with a special weapon. (Any special weapon except the Guard Shell should work; I used the Yammar Option, but you have to hit him with the dragonflies themselves, not just their shots. There doesn't seem to be a damage difference between different special weapons.) He'll go down eventually if you keep at it; a good way to lose the battle is to rush it. When he gets down to about 1/4 health, though, he starts using a different attack that is very difficult to avoid, but at this point, he can be damaged without having to be stunned first, so keep hammering him. After beating High Max, we find out who is really behing this mess...and gain entry to his laboratory. Yes, in this game, you don't need to beat all eight stages to enter the fortress. (Technically, ONE would do, if you re-entered it.) I'm not going there for quite a while, though; I intend to play through all 8 stages and get all the items I can before I do.
As for the real boss of the Weapon Center...Infinity Mijinion is probably the most difficult of the eight. He's tiny, but he's mobile. He shoots little purple shots and round orange shots, he makes orange arrows come from the sky, he creates annoying homing bubbles of goo...and he clones himself. He doesn't do it spontaneously, but every time Infinity Mijinion loses a quarter of his health, and often when he gets hit by certain attacks, he gets knocked backward and leaves a clone in the place where he was. You can destroy the clones, and you'll probably have to; they don't do much, but they do create the bubbles, and they can quickly overwhelm you if you leave them alive for too long.
Upon defeating Infinity Mijinion, we get the Ray Arrow, a decent weapon. It shoots a small laser forward that turns 90 degrees when it hits a wall. When charged, it shoots five larger lasers up from the bottom of the screen. This can be quite useful, as we'll see later on. (Interesting thing about the weapons in X6...the charged versions are actually *useful*, unlike many of the other charged weapons in Mega Man X games.)
Also in Infinity Mijinion's stage is the final piece of the Blade Armor. Now that I have the Blade Armor unlocked, I'll be using it instead of the Falcon Armor. As a demonstration, I head back to Commander Yammark's stage for a bit to get the E-Tank...and show something else: Infinity Mijinion's Nightmare effect. It's definitely the nastiest of the eight Nightmare effects, and one of the only two that can't be affected by its corresponding special weapon. Pro tip: Unless you have the stages memorized or are fully powered up, avoid this Nightmare effect at all cost.
Well, that's half of the stages down and half of the weapons, powerups, and armors obtained, so the remaining four should fall easily enough.
