Time for the second half of Kremwood Forest, and it's quite fun. We start with another forest stage, 2-4, Springin' Spiders, which is overpopulated with little yellow and pink spiders then bounce up and down and sometimes back and forth. They cannot, however, damage you; you just jump on top of the wooden platforms on their backs and let them carry you upward. Past that, there isn't much to say about this stage, except that it contains yet another annoying Grab 15 Bananas bonus...bleh. This stage isn't at all bad, though. 2-5, though...it is another riverside stage, although it seems to have some sort of autumn setting. It is called Bobbing Barrel Brawl, and it didn't get its name by accident. You spend almost the entire time transformed into Ellie the baby elephant, and you get to use a new power of hers...sucking up water and squirting it at enemies! If you're close enough to water, you can press L to make Ellie suck up 7 shots' worth of water, and when you have it, press R or A (I use the latter) to squirt it out. You can even aim the shots up by holding down the Up button while squirting, and you can squirt them in rapid succession by holding down R or A. But the gimmick that gave Bobbing Barrel Brawl its name is another thing that we didn't know until now: Barrels can float on water. You pick up a barrel with Ellie's trunk and toss it into the water, and then you can stand on it to help you cross the water. (Most of the pools of water in this stage are inhabited by a nasty fish named Nibbla who will bite you if you touch the water.) This is actually one of my favorite stages in the game.

In between 2-4 and 2-5, we visit Brash, another Bear Brother. The 1:15:00 time in Riverside Race was apparently his record, and he's not too thrilled that we beat it. He throws an absolutely earth-shaking tantrum, knocking a log into the river and allowing us to cross it to get another Banana Bird. After that comes Arich, the boss of Kremwood Forest, who is an ENORMOUS spider that bounces up and down. You have to hit him from below with a barrel while avoiding his pointy legs and the green spitballs (or whatever the heck they are...) he spits once you get him down to half health. Four hits with a barrel, and he's down! From him, you get a patch, which you must take back to Funky so he can use it to make a new vehicle for you. This is the hovercraft, which can traverse areas that were inaccessible to the motorboat because they were blocked off by rocks.

That's two worlds down, and we got a nice new vehicle out of the deal. Where must we go next in our continuous quest to put an end to K. Rool's evil plans?
