The second half of Cotton-Top Cove is not unlike the first, certainly. We begin with another waterfall stage, Tracker Barrel Trek. The gimmick barrels here are the tracker barrels, marked with a "T" and two arrows. They shoot you out almost as soon as you jump into them, but then they also follow you back and forth, so as long as you're within range, you will always land back in the barrel...or on an ever-so-conveniently-placed buzzsaw bee. The barrels stop at a certain point, usually next to a wall or platform. In the second half of the stage, you are transformed into Ellie (although the transformation is not mandatory), and we find out that she can suck up water from waterfalls just as well as she can from rivers...and shoot it at any Kremlings or bees stupid enough to get in her way. FEAR MY BIOLOGICAL SQUIRT GUN OF DOOM!!!

Next comes another underwater stage, Fish Food Frenzy. If that name sounds awfully ominous to you, don't worry. This one isn't really all that difficult or annoying (in my opinion, anyway)...but it IS interesting. Instead of Nibbla chomping your feet off, in this stage, he helps you instead! Here, Nibbla trails along behind you, eating anything that gets in his way. That's good when he eats the fish, but not so good when he eats the clams. He has four different colors: blue, purple, red, and orange, from "highest" to "lowest". When he eats a fish, he moves up a level. When he eats a clam, or if you go too long without feeding him, he moves down a level. If he turns orange...well, let's just say there are no platforms or ropes to save you this time! He only bites one of your characters, though; he'll turn back to blue after that. His monstrous appetite comes in handy in the second bonus room, one of the most unique bonuses in the game, a Bash the Baddies bonus where the room is populated with clownfish and you have to make him eat them all. So while Fish Food Frenzy keeps you on your toes, there are definitely much worse video game stages that contain carnivorous fish. (And I have such horrible memories of them...)

To conclude this "episode", I take on the boss of World 3, Squirt. He's some kind of weird bug-eyed creature that lives behind a waterfall and squirts water in a circle to try to push you off the platforms in the boss arena. You do this battle in the form of Ellie, the faithful baby elephant who can suck up water and squirt it out. You have to squirt (ha) the boss in the eyes when he sticks them out. Each eye takes 2 squirts to close, but you have to be pretty quick if you want to squirt both eyes closed in one round. (It's easier to do it in two rounds, since his eyes will stay closed or partly closed.)
