Let’s Play HC Minecraft Take Three #03: A Roof Over our Head

With our first brief excursion below ground a success, we have enough resources to begin construction on a house. This first building is going to be neither complex in design nor pretty, but it’s a lot better than the hole of dirt that we’ve called home for the past few nights. Stone is more resistant to a creeper explosion and being above ground means we can use windows to see if there any dangers near our home before we venture out for the day. We’ll certainly replace this place in due time, but it’ll be a step in the right direction once it’s done.
At the same time as building our house, we’ll be looking to outfit ourselves with more serviceable weapons and armour, including a shield. Shields are exceptionally useful for they can be used to block ranged projectiles. This allows you to close the distance with skeletons relatively safely, though you do move a lot slower when it’s raised. It’s cheap in resources to make and very easy to repair, making it an essential addition to our inventory that we’ll be using a lot alongside the iron armour and sword I intend to craft for our next foray into the caves that are surely all around us, waiting to be discovered.
