Let's Play: Make A Good Megaman Level 3 - Part 16
After what seems like a near century wait (it was really only about 5 years), the newest Make A Good Mega Man Level (MAGMML for short) has been released! I've decided to get on this as soon as possible before I start getting spoiled on the entries. I'll be playing through the levels and reading the reviews along the way and giving some thoughts on each of the levels in the description. Feel free to follow along...
On to tier 6 and do you see what happens when you start getting into some quality levels? You keep wanting to play. I didn't even realize nearly 2 hours had gone by... It's amazing though that after a few years of doing this, I still can't figure out sound issues. Live and learn... I just gotta adjust it in OBS and leave it the same for all games. Btw, story is typical MAGMML stuff. You're either gonna love it or hate it... I'll just say, I play these for the levels...
Frenzy Reactor - We are starting off with a Simpsons reference. And you know what, if the level played on that, it might of been interesting. Instead, it's a forgettable romp. Not bad, not good, just there...
Escape From the Wily City - I don't think the "the" there is necessary. I think this level will be mostly remembered for a triple Gemini Man fight. And you know what. I didn't hate it. For one thing, they shared a life bar, it wasn't two bosses with two life bars. Also adding an extra Gemini Man completely changed the strategy of the fight. I couldn't figure it out though, so I just weapon spammed him. I'm not good. The rest of the level was, eh, moving on.
Skull Secret Zone - A combination of Mega Man and Sonic levels, that just ends up being two Mega Man levels. Granted, the guy did say it's incomplete, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that it could of been better. It needed more Sonic elements. Try different combinations as the levels chosen to represent the Sonic levels, lack real gimmicks. Carnival Night/Clown Man would be interesting, maybe Scrap Brain/Junk Man, even just Sonic music would of given it a better identity. As it stands, it's just a subpar, forgettable level.
Up Down All Around - Not a bad stage. Never thought to use the falling blocks like that. Is this stage going to light the contest on fire? Nah. But for what it is, I very much enjoyed it.
Stalling for Time - Is this the first skip level I enjoyed? I don't remember. The reasoning for the skip are sound though. Really difficult boss with tokens that are so obscure that I can't imagine people finding them without the compass or map. Apart from that though, I had fun. The second boss was actually a lot of fun when I figured out what I was supposed to do. Though surviving that gauntlet buster only on the highest time setting seems painful. I hope there is no achievement for that. Also that music glitch... oof
Hornet Man got a new Stage - He certainly did... next...
Shape Woman - Now we are talking! I really liked this one. Mostly due to the aesthetics, but it was still fun as well... for a little while. Not gonna lie, this one could of used some trimming. I think that whole middle section probably could've of been done away with, or combined with the other two sections and shortened. I believe that a level shouldn't take more than 8-9 minutes to complete blind. Unless it's difficult, then you can add a few minutes to that to learn things. Shape Woman herself is a really fun fight. But once I figured out the pattern, it was shockingly easy.
