All* Mega Man (Classic) Songs Ranked Worst to Best Part 6: 149 - 100
22:32 - Start at 140
39:23 - Start at 130
59:18 - Start at 120
1:16:09 - Start at 110
Note: Yes, I am aware of inconsistent volume in the songs, I tried to adjust them so it'd sound more even, but... well, let's just say video and sound editing is not my forte (pun intended). The audio files I had differed greatly in sound. 9, 10, 11, and the GB games were significantly louder, while 4, 5, and 6 were much lower. Mega Man 8 in particular varied based on the song it was (cutscenes seemed to be much, much louder).
I’ve done it. I have taken just about every single song from the Mega Man Classic series and ranked them from worst to best. First, I listened to every album with original songs, no remixes (sorry Mega Man Powered Up and your loveable face). Then I ranked those worst to best. Then I put all those songs up against each other and finally decided on this list. There are a few caveats to this list I should point out.
1. I tried my best to find every song off every Mega Man classic platformer, but even with my research, I may have missed a few really obscure ones. If I did miss any glaring ones, let me know. I likely won’t redo the list. But I can at least comment on them. And note that I said platformer. While I am sure Battle and Chase, Super Adventure Rockman, and the Fighters series have great songs, you won’t find any on this list. Also, Street Fighter X Mega Man is a fan game and is thus not ranked. You’ll never change my mind on this.
2. I did not add jingles. The iconic Mega Man stage select song will not be ranked. My biggest miss though was not putting the Fortress Introductions… they just varied too much in length (some are only a few seconds long), so I figured I would just forgo all of them all together… for those curious, Mega Man 3 is my favorite, but even that likely wouldn’t have cracked the top 100.
3. I didn’t put any remixes on the list. Not that it matters as the original, 9 times out of 10, is better (Powered Up aside). Two glaring omissions from this are the Robot Museum from 7 (a melody of various songs) and the Staff Roll song in Mega Man 4 (a remix of Mega Man 2’s title theme). A few exceptions: The Ending Theme in 6 (only the last part is ranked though), the Stage Select theme in IV (ranked in the same number) and Bass’ Theme from 7 and 8 (also ranked in the same number). Boss Dialog and Wily Stage 4 in Mega Man 8 are technically the same song, but I think there is enough there to warrant a separation of the two (neither ranked terribly high anyway)
4. This is my opinion (obviously) and there is only one person in the world that will agree with it 100% and that is me. And even I am not so sure about that. My opinions change daily, but I think, for the most part, this is accurate to how I feel. There are controversial opinions for sure. I will address some of these in the description for each video.
Anyway, agree with a spot? Disagree? Wanna call my opinion wrong? Feel free to comment… I’d be happy to know where others would place songs. I enjoyed doing this and have even discovered some songs I have never heard before, but after this… I’ll be happy to never hear a Mega Man classic song again.
142 – This is part of a much longer song, but the first half is just small clips from the robot master’s themes in the game. This is only the second half.
129 - Had a hard time placing this one after Make A Good Mega Man Level 2... I decided it is still a good one and deserves its high placement despite being over exposed to it.
120 - This would be so much higher if it wasn't so short.
117 – I initially had this (and the others of its ilk) off the list as I thought, due to name, they were remixes. After listening to the originals though, I realized they are COMPLETELY different songs.
