Let's Play: Make A Good Megaman Level 3 - Part 23
0After what seems like a near century wait (it was really only about 5 years), the newest Make A Good Mega Man Level (MAGMML for short) has been released! I've decided to get on this as soon as possible before I start getting spoiled on the entries. I'll be playing through the levels and reading the reviews along the way and giving some thoughts on each of the levels in the description. Feel free to follow along...
The Stormscraper - There is one room here that I was making WAAAY harder for myself than I should have. Overall fun stage. Interesting use of the sandstorm (insertdarudememe) gimmick. Once you get the hang of it, and don't play like a monkey with his hands tied behind his back, it's quite fun.
Step on the Gas - Oh my... a Rush Bike level. I knew we would get one of these in the contest, I just didn't know when. And it's, predictably, not good. Rush Bike is just a rough utility to begin with, with very few places to use it well. I will give this level credit in the regard that it KNOWS what to do with it. The execution could just be better. It's also not designed for combat... so having a boss you fight, instead of, maybe, a race at the end hurts the experience. Decent idea. Flawed execution. Flawed utility.
Sparks and Sockets - I know it's a glitch and isn't actually supposed to happen, but man I really wanted to see what could be done with that moonwalking gimmick. Wasn't a fan of this one. The speedup gimmick isn't expanded upon at all. Maybe have gauntlets involving them instead of just a few short segments. The boss fight was very fun though.
Lost Caverns of Jungata - Any good will this level might have had was killed dead by that one nickel. Not cool. Also, please reskin something other than Pharaoh Man for a change. We get it, he's great, move on.
King Man - A lot of fun! I love the card gimmick and King Man himself is a great fight. Btw, that was Legend of Zelda music past me. Don't be such a dolt next time.
Gross Incandescence - I butchered that word. Hey look, it's Lamda with another Dark Souls reference. At least this is better than their first outing. Still not fantastic, but that's likely more due to me not understanding the Dark Souls series.
