Now it's time for my next regular LP. I am doing this one alongside my blind run of The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, so feel free to check that out as well. This time around, I am playing Mega Man 4, which is probably my favorite of the NES Mega Man games. We are given a brief recap of the plot from earlier games, and then we find out that apparently there's a new mad scientist on the loose, Dr. Cossack, who has created 8 more robots to attack Mega Man. How interesting... While I probably won't do the Robot Masters in this game in weakness order, I start with the one most people probably start with: Toad Man. His stage is mostly set in a sort of sewer, maybe part of a dam of some kind. The first area has rain that pushes you back (just like Rainy Turtloid's Nightmare effect in Mega Man X6) and enemies that fall from the sky or dive-bomb you, and the rest of the stage has sewer rats, jellyfish, and giant snail minibosses. Toad Man himself hops around like, well, a toad, and his signatre attack is Rain Flush, which covers the entire screen with acid rain. However, Toad Man is notorious for being a pitifully easy boss to defeat, and it's all because of his extremely exploitable AI. Once he starts preparing to do the rain attack, you can shoot him to interrupt his little rain dance...and then wait for him to do it again, shoot him again, and repeat until his HP hits 0. It's rather sad, actually. Mind you, this strategy does not seem to work with the Game Boy version of Toad Man, but hey, we're playing the NES version right now. Defeating Toad Man gives Mega Man the ability to use Rain Flush himself, which is a fairly useful weapon. It hits every enemy on the screen and uses 4 units of weapon energy every time you fire it off. We also get the Rush Marine, which is not terribly useful, but eh, it's there if we want it. It's sort of like a Rush Jet that only works underwater and lets you shoot at enemies.

And with that, we've cleared one stage, defeated one boss, and obtained one weapon. This game shouldn't be too hard to get through, barring a few spots, and no doubt it will be fun. I might not have a terribly consistent pattern to the uploads, though, because of the other project I'm doing at the same time. In any case, I'll see you in the next episode!
