Let's Play Donkey Kong Country - Part 5: See the Forest for the Trees
Lately, I've been trying, once again, to find some more games to play; I did get Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D on its release date yesterday (hey, 8 new levels, a new gameplay setting, no more motion controls, and portability, though it doesn't look quite as nice), as well as Fire Emblem: Awakening, which either is one of the hardest games I've ever played or just showed me that I suck at tactical RPGs, I'm not sure which. I'm still looking for some RPGs I'd be interested in anyway; I've heard that the DS is a good system for them...I don't suppose anyone could recommend some good turn-based RPGs that aren't remakes, Pokemon, or Shin Megami Tensei? (Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and Lufia 2 also don't need to be mentioned.) Or, you know, some good 2D platformers that I haven't already played, but those hardly even exist anymore.
But I digress. We're on to the third world now, Vine Valley. Incidentally, they used the same name for a level in Donkey Kong Country Returns, 5-1. This is the forest world of the game (forest and jungle in the same game? Yes.) and the first one to have 6 regular levels rather than 5. Also, I suppose, the first one I had trouble with when I was little. We start off in Vulture Culture, 3-1, which has many Neckys and Mini-Neckys that do everything from simply hovering in one place to spitting nuts at you. There are barrels here as well, and plenty of bottomless pits to go around. (And it turned out I was right about the music; it is called Forest Frenzy.) 3-2, Tree Top Town, takes place on platforms high in the treetops (naturally) and has even MORE shooting barrels and more good music. 3-3, Forest Frenzy, is the other forest level of the game, and this one is focused on ropes. You don't swing on them, but you do move up and down them to avoid enemies.
